Ko King Zepeda: I’M Excited To Face Flanagan In England
By Queensberry Promotions
American KO sensation Jose Zepeda says he will not be intimidated coming to Terry Flanagan's backyard for their WBO World Lightweight title clash on Saturday 11th July at the Manchester Velodrome.
Nuclear-fisted Zepeda has destroyed 20 out of his 23 victims by knockout - with a blistering 16 coming inside the first three rounds - and the Californian is heralded as the next Oscar De La Hoya with his model looks and thunderous, all-action style.
The unbeaten 26-year-old has never fought outside of the US or Mexico and faces the hardest test of his career on foreign soil against Manchester warrior Flanagan, who’s also undefeated, but holds vital championship experience and rounds completed over Zepeda.
However, Zepeda is not worried and he told boxing bible Ring Magazine's online site Ring TV in an interview that he's ready to collide with the hometown favourite in the lion’s den.
“I’m excited to be going to England and fight,” said Zepeda.
“I feel comfortable fighting anywhere. I know I will bring my ‘A’ game. I would have loved to fight for the title back home but I am excited for this opportunity.
“I think Terry is a great fighter. Both of us are undefeated and I’m ready for a great fight.
“I don’t take anything away from him. We will both be prepared. I know we are going to give the fans a great fight!”
