Olympic Gold Medalist
Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev captured the gold medal in the men’s 71 kg (welterweight) boxing event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. In the final, he defeated Mexico’s Marco Alonso Verde Alvarez by a unanimous 5–0 judges’ decision, demonstrating both precision and control throughout the three-round bout.
Muydinkhujaev’s path to gold was marked by strong tactical boxing. In the early rounds of the final, he relied on clean footwork and movement, keeping his opponent at bay and striking with sharp combinations whenever Verde tried to close the distance. As the fight progressed, Verde became more aggressive, particularly in the third round, but Muydinkhujaev remained composed under pressure — his defense held up, and he maintained the upper hand on the scorecards.
His victory was also a significant moment for Uzbek boxing. Muydinkhujaev’s gold contributed to an exceptionally successful Olympic campaign for Uzbekistan: their boxing team won five gold medals, making it one of the most dominant performances in their history. For Muydinkhujaev personally, adding Olympic gold to his previous world championship achievements cemented his status as one of the top amateur boxers in his weight class.
2025 World Amateur Champion
At the 2025 World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, Muydinkhujaev won the gold medal in the men’s 65 kg (light-welterweight) division, becoming world champion. In the final, he faced Brazil’s Yuri Reis and, despite losing the first round, he came back strongly to win the next two rounds and take the title. His victory contributed to Uzbekistan’s historic performance: their team secured six gold medals during the tournament, underlining the country’s dominance in the competition.
