Liam Williams vs Shabaz Masoud
The eagerly awaited super bantamweight showdown between Liam Davies and Shabaz Masoud, with the IBO world championship at stake, will now occur at the BP Pulse Arena (Formerly Resorts World Arena) in Birmingham on Saturday, November 2.
The fight was initially scheduled in July before illness ruled out the champion. Challenger, the undefeated Masoud (13-0, 4 KOs) did see action on the night and subsequently clashed with his rival afterwards as the pair set the scene for a classic confrontation.
Davies (16-0, 8) was last out in Birmingham when he seized his IBO title with a blistering second-round stoppage of Erik Robles Ayala. During his remarkable rise in the sport, Davies has previously become British, European, WBC International, and WBO International champion.
The Undercard and ticket information will be released shortly.
“This is a fight we have been waiting for, and I reckon it will be worth the wait,” said promoter Frank Warren on the Davies-Masoud headliner. “Liam and Shabaz will deliver a top-quality fight, and the rivalry and bad feelings between the pair are simmering. I don’t think they are on each other’s Christmas card list. Our bumper Birmingham shows have all delivered so far, and I expect more of the same and a huge crowd on November 2.”

“Dangerous"
LIAM DAVIES is delivering in style each time he steps through the ropes and is a true success story of British boxing, having become IBO super bantamweight champion of the world with a stunning victory over Erik Robles Ayala in March.
He oozed class when he won the vacant WBC International Silver Super Bantamweight title against Dixon Flores in Birmingham in October 2021 and in June of 2022 he fulfilled his dream of becoming British champion by outpointing Marc Leach, who was making his first defence of the treasured belt.
His two previous fights under the Queensberry banner in 2021 had been spectacular exhibitions of blistering power and accuracy.
The encounters against Stefan Slavchev and Raymond Commey lasted a combined nine minutes and 53 seconds and featured four knockdowns before the referee intervened to spare further punishment.
He had been brought to Frank Warren’s attention winning the English Bantamweight title in November of 2020 when his heavy hands forced Sean Cairns to retire on his stool after six rounds.
Prior to winning that title he was striving to make a name for himself on the small hall circuit and picking up experience against redoubtable journeymen.
In November 2022 in his hometown of Telford, Davies secured his then biggest and most notable win to date when he became European champion via a convincing points defeat of Ionut Baluta for the vacant title.
In July of 2023, he added the WBO International title to his collection in a four-belt battle against Jason Cunningham. The experienced Iceman, against all expectations, was stopped in just the first round as Davies put his name up in lights.
