Super Featherweight Ryan Garner

Super Featherweight Reece Bellotti

Ryan Garnervs Reece BEllotti
THE PIRANHA WILL be back stalking the shores of Bournemouth on Saturday July 26 when Ryan Garner returns to the BIC to take on British and Commonwealth super featherweight champion Reece Bellotti.
The European and WBC International champion Garner, 27, enjoyed a successful and packed out maiden appearance at the Bournemouth International Centre at the beginning of March when he overwhelmed the previously unbeaten Spaniard Salvador Jimenez and now he gets the chance to add the treasured Lonsdale belt to his collection.
The fight will be a surefire shootout, with the experienced ‘Bomber’ Bellotti, 34, on a six-fight winning streak since taking on former WBA super bantamweight world champion Ray Ford in 2021.
Bellotti, 20-5 (15 KOs) from Watford, rebuilt from the foundations by securing the Southern Area title with victory over Dean Dodge before securing the Commonwealth title against the then unbeaten Aqib Fiaz via stoppage. He then won the British in early 2024 via unanimous decision against a former Garner opponent in Liam Dillon before making successful defences against Levi Giles and Michael Gomez Jr.
Southampton favourite Garner, 17-0 (8 KOs), is establishing a bumper following on the South Coast with the support of his local football team, where he is an ambassador for the Saints Foundation and makes regular pitch side appearances.
His career trajectory took an upward turn when he won his WBC belt with a third round stoppage of Juan Jesus Antunez in the summer of 2023, making a successful defence against the forthcoming European super lightweight title challenger Dillon.
The undefeated and highly ranked WBO contender Archie Sharp was outflanked by the Piranha in July of last year, which set Garner up for his European triumph a short drive from his Southampton home.”
“This is the fight to make in the super featherweight division,” said promoter Frank Warren. “A real cracker that will deliver the goods in a big way.
“I was delighted with how our first promotion in Bournemouth turned out in March, with a sellout crowd at an absolutely terrific venue at the BIC. It couldn’t have worked out any better and I am very happy to be making a return visit in July.
“For Ryan, this is the sort of fight he needs to bring him up to, ultimately, world title contention, which is where we see his journey heading. We know Reece is a quality fighter with a strong following himself and, most importantly, both men bring entertainment value for the fans.
“July 26 is most definitely a date to circle in your diaries and it is a fight not to be missed.”

Ryan Garner
"The Piranha"
Fighter ProfileConsistency is the buzzword Ryan Garner is abiding by these days as the one-time teen talent who has morphed into a mature version of himself closes in on realising his potential and entering into title contention.
Keeping busy in the ring, staying in the gym, sticking to the diet of an athlete and seeking improvement on a daily basis is the regime strictly adhered to by the now 25-year-old.
The 2023 Piranha is applying himself to his craft like never before and his application finally matching up to his obvious talent is a heady mix that should see him progress upstream into the deeper, more dangerous waters before too long.
“I am just happy to be staying busy now,” stated the Southampton native – who defeated the 9-1 Pedro Manuel Gomes in Birmingham in November 2021 and followed up with an impressive points victory over Christian Lopez Flores in July 2022.
“It is all looking good and I am been raring to go again. I have been the lightest I have ever been throughout and making weight has been easy because I have stayed on it. Everything is just working out really well and I am buzzing to keep busy from now on.
“In the gym I am feeling so strong at the moment and I am firing on all cylinders and I am looking forward to it to the next one.”
Ryan recently hooked up with his promoter Frank Warren in London to map out future plans and tie up contract details, for what is a third agreement between the fighter and promoter.
“We obviously had a good chat and it is all positive, they have got everything lined up for me and the next one could potentially be for a title.
“It is not far away now, I have signed a new contract with Frank and everything is looking good for me. In the other years I have just been coming through really. Now, with this new contract, it is a step up right from the get-go. These next two to three years are going to be the most crucial of my career.
“I want to get in the rankings and get some sort of title to show for what I have done.
“In my performances, you will see that everything is there and in place now, physically and mentally I feel much better. Everything is better and you will see the best of me. This will be the complete package!”
Reece Bellotti
"Bomber"
Reece ‘Bomber’ Bellotti is the British and Commonwealth super featherweight champion, who is enjoying a career resurgence at the age of 34.
The Watford man began his pro journey in a blaze of glory with a first round stoppage at York Hall and it wasn’t long before he was being touted as the biggest punching featherweight in the business.
In only one of his opening 12 fights was the final bell heard. In fight No.10 he won the vacant WBC International Silver title with an eighth round halting of the vastly experienced Jamie Speight, before successfully defending, again via stoppage, against Jason Cunningham and Ben Jones.
Bellotti then came unstuck against the unsung but very dangerous Manchester man Ryan Doyle in his third defence, but one fight later he was pushed forward into a British title challenge against the long-standing champion Ryan Walsh, where he was edged out on a split decision.
Despite the setbacks, Bellotti continued to push up the levels, but suffered a sequence of defeats against high-profile opposition in Francesco Grandelli, Jordan Gill and Ray Ford.
Cue a rebuild from the foundations. A more mature, calculating version of Bellotti won the Southern Area title at super featherweight against Dean Dodge before defeating Youssef Khoumari in a British title eliminator.
He went on to upset home prospect Aqib Fiaz to become Commonwealth champion again ahead of his British title success against Liam Dillon at the beginning of 2024 and subsequent defences against Levi Giles and Michael Gomez Jr.
Bellotti next takes on the European and WBC International champion Ryan Garner in Bournemouth on July 26 in what is sure to be a firecracker of a fight.
