JackRafferty

"Big Ben"

WBC International Silver, British & Commonwealth Champion

The British, Commonwealth and WBC International Silver super lightweight champion Jack Rafferty signed for Frank Warren and Queensberry in the wake of adding the British and WBC titles to his Commonwealth crown with victory over Henry Turner in Liverpool in October 2024.

The Demolition Man learned his trade and created a fearsome reputation across the off-TV circuit in the North West. His initial breakthrough success came at Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester when he seized the vacant Commonwealth belt with a first round blitz of the experienced Lee Appleyard in December 2023.

One routine third round stoppage later and Rafferty, 29, was mandated to take on young Queensberry star Turner for the British title. The fight took place at the M&S Bank Arena on the undercard of Nick Ball’s maiden WBA world featherweight title defence against Ronny Rios in October of last year.

A patient Rafferty bided his time against the cultured punch-picking style of the elegant Turner and, essentially, waiting until the younger fighter wilted in the later rounds before stepping up his own assault.

Turner was suffering through Rafferty’s aggressive body work and was put to the canvas in round nine before being retired by his corner at the end of the round.

Rafferty will defend his three belts on February 8 at the Co-op Live Arena where he will take on Reece MacMillan.
