2025 World Amateur Champion

At the 2025 IBA World Boxing Championships held in Liverpool, England, Javokhir Ummataliev secured the gold medal in the men’s 80 kg division. His performance stood out throughout the tournament as he navigated a deep field of 36 competitors from 36 nations.In the final, he claimed victory over Yojerlin César of France to take the top spot on the podium.

Ummataliev’s tournament run was marked by technical poise and strong conditioning. In the earlier rounds, for example, he defeated Minseong Kim from South Korea by unanimous decision. Despite being just 20 years old, he showed maturity beyond his years, controlling distance, mixing up his attacks, and avoiding prolonged exchanges when it suited him.

His world championship win was part of a dominant showing by the Uzbekistan boxing team, which finished with six gold medals overall at the competition—cementing their place as one of the powerhouse nations in amateur boxing. In recognition of the achievement, Ummataliev and his coach were celebrated nationally, receiving significant awards from the Uzbekistan Olympic Committee shortly after the tournament.

He also claimed gold at the 2025 World Boxing Cup in Poland, where he beat Italy’s Alfred Commey in the final.

Earlier in his development, he was crowned Youth World Champion at the 2022 IBA Youth World Championships, showcasing his potential well before stepping up to the elite level.

After signing with Queensberry Promotions, Javokhir Ummataliev aims to transition his world‑class amateur skills into the professional ranks, targeting rapid success in the light heavyweight division and positioning himself for future world-title fights.
