A NEW HEAVYWEIGHT ERA DAWNING

THE HEADLINE ATTRACTION at The o2 on Saturday August 29 now carries the ultimate label of World Heavyweight Title.

When Queensberry pair Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic take to the ring they will be fighting for one of the biggest prizes in sport, the IBF world championship and one quarter of the heavyweight pie.

Moses, of course, should he emerge triumphant, will become the second youngest world heavyweight champion in history, only behind Mike Tyson. Iron Mike seized the WBC belt at the age of 20 and four months in November 1986 following a reign of terror leading up to his coronation.

Mighty Moses already turned 21 in January, but he is fighting for the world title in just his 14th fight, as opposed to Tyson, who had clocked up 27 by the time he went in and destroyed Trevor Berbick in the second round at the Las Vegas Hilton.

The winner out of the Briton and the Croatian will be in a strong position to unify. The WBO title is held by Daniel Dubois and the WBC ruler is Agit Kabayel, who are both fellow Queensberry heavyweights.

Frank Warren, who has been meticulously planning and building his heavyweight empire for many years now, can now set about creating a new undisputed champion.

The winner will also know his next opponent, with No.1 contender Frank Sanchez waiting in the wings having made way for this fight to be for the IBF title.

Tyson unified straight away for the WBA title against James Smith in his first 12 round experience, before becoming undisputed against Tony Tucker in August 1987 in another fight that went the distance.

His status was defended six times before that fateful night at the Tokyo Dome against James Douglas, where he fell to a shock 10th round stoppage.

A new heavyweight era is dawning and a new champion will be crowned on August 29.
