Homestretch - Press Conference Quotes

THE OPENING MEDIA conference to launch the promotion of ‘Homestretch’ took place at the Grand Hotel in Birmingham today, with Liam Davies vs Nathaniel Collins set to headline at the BP Pulse Live on Saturday September 26, live on DAZN.

Also featuring on the bumper card will be the final curtain of Nathan Heaney’s professional career, with him rematching Gerome Warburton. Plus there will be a vacant British title double-header showcasing the talents of Nelson Birchall against Gully Powar, along with Luke McCormack against Kay Prospere.

Liam Davies
“I think Nathaniel was the third fight I accepted. They came with names, but I am just down to fight. I am 30 now, I have been European champion for so many years at two different weights, so I will fight anyone.

“I have built into this weight class good, I am hungry, I am on the verge of world titles. They could have said any name. I am eager, my journey has been slower in the last couple of years, but now I am back at main event and I am going to grab it with both hands.

“Frank is going to get me a world title shot after this!

“I believe I am quite good at this boxing malarkey, so I am glad Nathaniel took the fight, Obviously he was going to because we are all game and love to fight. I am grateful to be headlining and Nathaniel is back in big time boxing and can be in one fight. I just can’t let that happen.

“I think we are going into round 37 because we have sparred a lot of times and every time has been a great spar. I expect that to continue.”

Nathaniel Collins
“It was not to be in my last fight, a fight that I feel didn’t really need to happen because I believe I won that first fight. A lot of people who watched the last fight knew I wasn’t really myself in there, but I don’t need to go into detail on that.

“This is a brilliant fight, me and Liam know each other pretty well, so I am really looking forward to it. It is one that gives you that fire in your belly again and it is going to be a cracker.

“I am above the level of building myself back up and being in soft touch fights. I have been doing this a long time and I have been in title fights in my last six or seven times out. I am going into my 20th fight now, so there is no rebuilding stage really. I need to stay at this level.

“It could be a war, it could be a boxing match. Both of us are very skilful so we will adjust accordingly. At some point we will need to stand and go, so we will see.”
