Queensberry Double At Ring awards

By Queensberry Promotions

Both Daniel Dubois and Moses Itauma scooped prestigious awards at the glittering inaugural Ring Magazine gala staged at the Old Royal Naval College in London on Saturday.

In front of an array of luminaries from the sport in Greenwich, Dubois took the opening award of the evening by winning ‘Knockout of the Year’ for his sensational finish of Anthony Joshua in September in his first defence of his IBF world heavyweight title.

The 20-year-old heavyweight Itauma was honoured with the ‘Prospect of the Year’ prize for winning his four fights across 2024, with none of the fights going beyond the second round. In his final fight of the year, Itauma destroyed rated contender Demsey McKean inside a round on the undercard of the Usyk-Fury showdown in Riyadh.

The undisputed heavyweight championship of the world fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury that took place on May 18, 2024, was voted as ‘Event of the Year’, plus Nick Ball’s achievements were recognised by his nomination for ‘Comeback of the Year’ following his WBA world title success after being denied the WBC belt by his fight against Rey Vargas controversially being scored a draw back in March.

Usyk was named ‘Fighter of the Year’ and also won ‘Round of the Year’ for his round nine against Fury in May.

“My congratulations go to Daniel and Moses for their fully deserved accolades,” said promoter Frank Warren. “Both of them represent the present and future of the heavyweight division and we are hugely proud of their accomplishments to date.

“I would have loved for Nick Ball to have won an award for his fantastic achievements in 2024, but I am sure he will be back in the running next year and beyond.

“It was a magnificent occasion at the Old Royal Naval College and an event I don’t believe we have seen the like of before in our sport. It was a pleasure to be in attendance and a delight for Queensberry fighters to feature so strongly.”
