Key Fights and Career Highlights

During his near decade-long professional boxing career, Dubois faced some of the biggest names in the sport, solidifying him as one of the most formidable opponents in the heavyweight division.

One key fight for Dubois took place on the 28th of November 2020, just three years after the young Brit made his pro debut. He faced his biggest professional challenge to date - Joe “The Juggernaut” Joyce at Church House in Westminster for the BBBofC British Heavy, Commonwealth Boxing Council Heavy, EBU European Heavy, WBC Silver Heavy, and WBO International Heavyweight titles.

The bout between the two was nothing short of a spectacle, with both fighters showcasing their power, durability, and technical skill. Unfortunately for Dubois, after 10 rounds of boxing, he took the knee after a well-placed jab from Joyce that landed flush on his already damaged left eye.

Another highlight in Dubois’ boxing career was his matchup against one of the most well-known names in British boxing - Anthony “AJ” Joshua for the IBF World Heavyweight title. The bout between the two heavyweights took place in front of a record-breaking 96,000 live spectators at Wembley Stadium in London.

This was one of Dubois most staggering performances to date, as he managed to knock down Joshua four times in the space of just five rounds - the last of which left Joshua on the canvas as he was counted out by the referee Marcus McDonnell.

Records and Accolades

He became the youngest British heavyweight champion in history when he captured the British title in 2019 at just 21 years old.

His knockout against Anthony Joshua was featured as the Ring’s Knockout Of The Year For 2024.

Dubois headlined an event that broke all British boxing records for live spectators (96,000 at Wembley Stadium against Anthony Joshua).

Dubois has an impressive career knockout ratio of 95.45% - far higher than most heavyweight boxers ever.

In December 2023, Dubois faced the American heavyweight Jarrell Miller. Despite weighing nearly 100lbs more than the Queensberry man, Dubois came out victorious by securing a 10th round TKO.

Major Achievements and Titles

Despite his young age, Daniel Dubois has already achieved more than most professional heavyweights and has had his hands on a fair share of titles. As a professional boxer, he has held the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title since 2024.

Before that, the “Dynamite” held the World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight title from 2022 to 2023. At a regional level, he also held a number of heavyweight championship titles, including the British and the Commonwealth titles from 2019 to 2020.

Fighting Style & Techniques

Daniel Dubois’ success in the ring is largely attributed to his powerful and aggressive fighting style, many strengths, and very few (if any) weaknesses. His approach to boxing is often characterised by several key strengths, including:

Unique Style and Approach

Knockout Power: One of Dubois' most notable attributes is his exceptional punching power. With one of the highest knockout ratios in the heavyweight division, he has demonstrated the ability to finish fights quickly and decisively - making him one of the most dangerous opponents in the ring.

Aggressive Offense: Similarly to Derek Chisora, Dubois is often seen to take the initiative in his fights, often applying pressure on his opponents from the opening bell. This aggressiveness forces his opponents to react defensively and make mistakes, which the “DDD” can leverage to his advantage.

Technical Skill: Despite his knockout power, Dubois is also one of the most technical heavyweight boxers in the world. His strong jab allows him to set up effective combinations while keeping his opponents at bay.

Physical Attributes: Standing at 6’5”, Dubois has a reach of 78” and often weighs in the area of 240 pounds. His sheer size, reach, and weight allow him to absorb punches while delivering powerful counterattacks that often result in a knockout.

Conditioning and Stamina: Over his last 24 professional bouts, Dubois has shown good conditioning in the ring, which has allowed him to maintain a high work rate throughout even the toughest of fights. Despite his size, his stamina enables him to stay aggressive and effective, even in the later rounds, which are often the most crucial in the heavyweight division.

Legacy and Influence

Despite being just 27 years old, Daniel Dubois has already left a mark on the heavyweight division. From becoming the youngest British heavyweight world champion at just 21 years old to defeating world-class heavyweights in the likes of Anthony Joshua and Filip Hrgovic, he has proven himself as a force to be reckoned with.

And he will undoubtedly continue to build upon his boxing legacy as he continues to work hard and take on more and more difficult opponents over the course of his career.

As for his influence on the boxing world, it extends way beyond the ring, impacting fans, aspiring boxers, and the boxing community in several ways:

  • Pioneering Young Talent: As one of the youngest champions in the heavyweight division, Dubois now serves as an inspiration for young fighters. The success he’s had at such a young age demonstrates that with dedication and a lot of hard work, aspiring boxers can one day achieve their dreams inside the ring.

  • Rising the Profile of British Heavyweights: Dubois’ rise to prominence has contributed to the resurgence of British heavyweights on the global stage. By winning multiple titles and coming out victorious out of high-stake matchups against some of the most feared heavyweights, he has helped elevate the profile of British boxing.

  • Promoting the Sport: Aside from his ability to box at the highest level, Dubois is also known for his engaging personality and willingness to connect with fans. Whether through social media or interviews, like his fellow stablemate Tyson Fury, when he’s under the spotlight, he doesn’t miss a chance to promote the sport of boxing.
